This Western Australian coastal area is hugely important for humpback whale calving and breeding. These beautiful animals migrate from Antarctica to our warmer waters off Perth and then further south to Albany and to the Great Australian Bight. These are the breeding areas where humpback whales are prolific. Even sperm whales are seen there too.

These waters are an important temporary rest area for southward migrating humpback whales between September to late November, when they can be seen in the area with great regularity. Thankfully we get to enjoy all these creatures as the recover from the devastation of commercial whaling.
